Quote Summary

This proposal is for a complete backyard landscape transformation for Bill and Toni Crist at 19265 Kanbridge Street in Apple Valley. The project includes three separate artificial turf areas and one stabilized decomposed-granite area, using the existing curved concrete pathways and borders as the primary divisions between materials.

The designated artificial turf sections measure approximately 612 square feet, 976 square feet, and 1,212 square feet, for a combined estimated turf area of approximately 2,800 square feet. A separate area measuring approximately 430 square feet will be finished with stabilized California Gold decomposed granite. The total landscaped surface is approximately 3,230 square feet.

Site Preparation and Excavation

The existing areas are mostly flat, clean, and currently consist primarily of bare soil. Kreative Gardens will excavate the designated turf and DG sections to approximately 3 inches, establish the required finished elevations, remove the excavated material from the property, and dispose of job-generated debris.

Access for compact equipment and material movement will be through the west side of the house. The existing concrete walkways and borders will remain in place and will serve as stable, clearly defined boundaries for most of the installation.

Base Construction and Grading

A new compacted Class II road-base foundation will be installed throughout the artificial turf areas. The base will be distributed, graded, moistened as necessary, and mechanically compacted to create a stable and uniform foundation while maintaining practical transitions to the existing concrete.

No significant drainage problems were observed during the site survey. The finished surfaces will follow the existing practical drainage pattern and will be graded to avoid creating unnecessary low areas. This proposal does not include a new underground drainage system.

Sprinkler Capping

Approximately 20 sprinkler heads were visible during the site survey, although additional concealed or less-visible irrigation components may be encountered during preparation. Sprinkler heads located within the new artificial turf and DG areas will be identified and capped below the finished grade as part of the installation.

Maya 80 Artificial Turf

The selected turf model is Maya 80, a premium residential landscape turf with a soft, full appearance and realistic four-tone color blend. Maya 80 features an approximately 1.57-inch pile height, 53-ounce face weight, approximately 80-ounce total weight, polyurethane finish, highly permeable backing, and a 16-year manufacturer warranty.

The turf will be laid out to maintain a consistent fiber direction within each landscaped section. Pieces will be professionally positioned, trimmed to the existing concrete boundaries, joined where required, securely fastened, filled, and mechanically brushed for a finished appearance. Because the areas contain curved and irregular boundaries, the quantity of turf purchased will exceed the net 2,800-square-foot coverage to account for manufactured roll widths, grain direction, seams, curves, and installation waste.

Pet-Conscious CamoFill Infill

Bill and Toni have two small-breed dogs, including one senior dog approximately 14 years old. The turf installation will use CamoFill performance infill instead of ordinary untreated silica sand. CamoFill adds ballast, supports the turf fibers, assists blade recovery, and provides antimicrobial protection intended to help inhibit odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew.

CamoFill is appropriate for a pet-accessible residential landscape, but it does not eliminate the need for prompt solid-waste removal, periodic rinsing, and routine maintenance. No turf or infill system can guarantee complete or permanent elimination of pet odors.

Stabilized California Gold DG

The approximately 430-square-foot designated DG area will be prepared and finished with stabilized California Gold decomposed granite at approximately 2.5 inches compacted depth. Installation includes final grading, weed-barrier fabric using suitable available material from the project, placement of the DG and stabilizer, mechanical compaction, and cleanup.

The quoted DG price is specifically based on California Gold being installed concurrently with the artificial turf project. Other colors, aggregates, or specialty materials may have different material and delivery costs and will require updated pricing before ordering.

Historical Tree Area and Concealed Roots

Historical aerial imagery indicates that trees may previously have been located within the approximately 1,212-square-foot turf section. No trees or visible root systems were present during the site survey; however, buried roots, stump remnants, or organic material may be encountered during excavation.

Minor roots encountered during normal preparation are included. If extensive root systems, buried stumps, large concealed obstructions, or conditions requiring substantial additional labor or equipment are discovered, Kreative Gardens will stop in the affected area, discuss the condition with Bill and Toni, and obtain approval before performing additional work.

Future Tree Planting

Bill and Toni indicated that trees may be planted within the artificial turf areas in the future. Future tree installation will require the turf to be carefully opened, trimmed, and resecured around an appropriately sized planting well. Composite bender board or another perimeter restraint may also be required to maintain a clean and secure edge.

Any future turf modification for trees is not included in this proposal and should be separately evaluated and professionally completed. Planning the likely tree locations before installation is recommended if Bill and Toni want dedicated planting islands incorporated into the original layout.

Project Pricing and Schedule

The standard finance or credit-card price for the complete artificial turf and stabilized DG project is $17,750. A discounted $16,750 cash price is available.

If Bill and Toni elect to omit the approximately 430-square-foot DG section before materials are ordered, the revised project price will be $17,500 standard or $16,500 cash. The $250 adjustment applies only when the DG is omitted from this combined project. Installing that area separately at a later date would require a new estimate and would cost significantly more because of separate material delivery, mobilization, weed barrier, labor, and contractor overhead.

If budget constraints make the complete project difficult, Kreative Gardens can evaluate a revised combination of artificial turf, DG, or phased sections. Any alternative layout will require updated quantities and pricing.

Under normal access, weather, soil, and material conditions, the complete project is expected to require approximately three working days.

Artificial Grass Installation Procedure

Artificial Grass Installation

The following outlines our complete, industry-standard installation process, which fully rebuilds the foundation that was missing from the existing system and ensures proper drainage, stability, and longevity.

Our installation begins by clearing the designated area of any existing grass, debris, and organic material.
‍
The surface is then graded for proper drainage and compacted to create a stable sub-base.
‍
A layer of crushed aggregate is installed and compacted — usually around 2–3 inches deep, depending on soil conditions and usage requirements. The base is mechanically compacted to approximately 90–95% density to prevent future settling and maintain a stable, even surface.

Once leveled, a commercial-grade weed barrier is laid over the compacted base to help prevent weed growth while allowing for drainage.

Next, the artificial grass is carefully rolled out and trimmed to fit the design. It is secured using 5" non-galvanized nails, placed approximately every 5 inches along the perimeter and every 12 inches within the interior of the turf. Seams are carefully joined to ensure durability and visual continuity.

Finally, the turf fibers are brushed upright and infilled with a material such as silica sand, antimicrobial, odor trapping, or cooling infill, depending on the application. This step enhances stability, appearance, and longevity. The area is then cleaned and groomed for a polished finish.

Decorative Rock Installation Procedure

Our decorative rock installations begin by carefully outlining the designated areas and removing any existing vegetation, debris, loose soil, or obstructions that could interfere with a stable installation. In many cases, this includes removing existing decorative rock, weeds, or organic material that has accumulated over time. The area is then lightly graded to create a smooth and even subgrade, eliminating low spots where water or debris might collect.

Once the surface is prepared, we install a commercial-grade 4oz woven weed barrier fabric designed to suppress weed growth while still allowing water to drain through the soil naturally. The fabric is overlapped at seams and securely pinned using landscape staples to prevent movement over time and to ensure continuous weed protection across the entire installation area.

Depending on the site conditions and the customer’s preference, we may install an optional graded and compacted base layer, typically consisting of Class II road base. When used, this base layer is usually installed at a depth of approximately 2–3 inches and compacted with vibratory plate compactors to create a firm, stable surface.

This optional base layer offers several advantages:

• Improves long-term stability of the decorative rock
• Reduces settling and migration of the rock into the soil
• Enhances drainage and prevents muddy conditions after rain
• Provides a smoother and more level finished surface

However, in many residential decorative rock installations—particularly where soil is already firm and well-draining—the base layer may be omitted to reduce cost and installation time. In these cases, the weed barrier fabric is installed directly over the prepared soil, and the decorative rock itself provides sufficient coverage and stability for the landscape application.

After the base preparation (if selected) and weed barrier installation are complete, the chosen decorative rock—such as river rock, crushed gravel, lava rock, or other decorative aggregates—is carefully distributed across the area at the specified depth. The material is evenly spread to achieve consistent coverage and proper thickness, typically ranging from 2 to 3 inches depending on the rock size and design requirements.

The surface is then final-raked and sculpted to create a clean, professional finish with smooth transitions and an even distribution of material. Special attention is given to shaping around trees, plants, irrigation components, and architectural features to maintain both functionality and visual appeal.

If required for the design, steel edging or bender board edging is installed along borders to contain the decorative rock and clearly define landscaped areas. Edging helps maintain crisp lines between rock, turf, concrete, or planting areas and prevents rock migration over time.

The result is a low-maintenance, visually appealing landscape surface that improves drainage, reduces weed growth, and enhances the overall curb appeal of the property.

Decomposed Granite (DG) Installation Procedure

Our decomposed granite installations start with clearing the designated area of grass, roots, and debris to establish a clean and stable foundation. Once the area is excavated and leveled, we install bender board or metal edging to contain the DG and create defined borders that prevent spreading over time.

A commercial-grade weed barrier fabric is laid down to inhibit weed growth while still allowing water to permeate through. This ensures a clean, low-maintenance finish over the long term.

We then apply a base layer of compacted Class II road base or crushed rock, typically around 2–3 inches deep, depending on site conditions and expected foot traffic. This base layer is leveled and compacted using a vibratory plate compactor to provide a stable sub-surface.

Next, we spread the decomposed granite evenly across the area in lifts of approximately 1.5 inches each. After each layer is spread, we lightly moisten the surface with water to aid in compaction and binding, then use the compactor again to press it into place. This process is repeated as needed until the final desired depth—usually around 2–3 inches total—is achieved.

We use stabilized DG upon request, which includes a binding agent to help the surface resist erosion and maintain a firmer finish under traffic. The final surface is lightly misted and compacted again for a smooth, walkable, and professional finish.

Paver Installation Procedure

Our paver installations begin with thorough site preparation, which includes marking the layout, removing any vegetation, and excavating the area to a depth that accommodates the paver thickness plus the required base layers—typically 7 to 9 inches total, depending on traffic load.

We then install edge restraints (such as bender board or concrete curbing) to maintain the integrity of the layout and prevent shifting over time.

A weed barrier fabric is laid down over the subgrade to reduce weed growth without impeding drainage.Next, we apply a compacted Class II road base or ¾” crushed aggregate in lifts of approximately 2–3 inches, compacting thoroughly after each lift using a vibratory plate compactor. This base layer is usually 4 to 6 inches thick, depending on whether the application is pedestrian or vehicular.

Over the compacted base, we spread a 1-inch bedding layer of washed concrete sand or similar material. This layer is carefully screeded to create a smooth, level surface that will support the pavers evenly.

Pavers are then laid by hand, following the desired pattern (e.g., herringbone, running bond, basketweave). We use spacers or consistent joints to allow for joint sand and proper interlocking.

Once all pavers are laid, we cut edge pieces as needed using a masonry saw or splitter to achieve a clean perimeter fit. After the entire surface is in place, we compact the pavers with a vibratory plate compactor fitted with a rubber pad to avoid surface damage.

We then apply polymeric sand or regular joint sand across the surface and sweep it into the joints. Polymeric sand is preferred for its binding and weed-prevention properties. The surface is compacted once more to help settle the sand.

Finally, for polymeric sand, we lightly mist the surface to activate the binding agent, resulting in a durable, low-maintenance, and visually appealing finish.

Stepping Stones Installation Procedure

The installation of stepping stones begins with careful planning and layout, ensuring proper spacing for comfortable walking. Typically, we maintain a distance of 18 to 24 inches (center to center) between stones to match the average human stride.

We begin by marking the path and then removing any grass or vegetation in each spot where a stone will be placed. Each area is excavated individually to a depth of approximately 2 to 4 inches, depending on the thickness of the stones and desired finish height.

Next, we install a weed barrier fabric under each stone location to help prevent weed growth while allowing drainage. A compacted base layer of decomposed granite (DG), sand, or crushed gravel is then added to each cavity, typically 1 to 2 inches thick, and compacted by hand to create a stable and level foundation.

Each stepping stone is then set into place manually, ensuring it sits level with the surrounding grade and is stable under foot pressure. We use a level and rubber mallet to adjust and secure each stone. The goal is a flush finish with just enough elevation to allow water runoff and avoid pooling.

If requested or aesthetically appropriate, we fill the joints between stones with decorative gravel, bark, DG, or artificial turf strips, depending on the overall landscaping theme and drainage requirements.

Once all stepping stones are in place and stable, we conduct a final inspection and make any necessary adjustments to ensure a safe, durable, and visually balanced pathway.

Concrete Installation Procedure

Our concrete installation process for residential patios, walkways, grill pads, and light-use driveways begins with site preparation and grading. We start by marking the layout, removing any vegetation, and excavating the area to a depth of approximately 4 to 6 inches, depending on the application and soil conditions.

A Class II road base or crushed gravel layer is then installed, typically 2 to 4 inches thick, and compacted thoroughly using a vibratory plate compactor. This creates a solid and stable foundation that prevents cracking and shifting over time.

Next, forms are constructed using high-quality lumber to define the edges and maintain consistent thickness and slope. We ensure that the concrete will drain away from any structures, avoiding pooling or water damage. If necessary, expansion joints or control joints are planned and marked to minimize cracking.

We then place concrete reinforcement, usually welded wire mesh or #3 rebar on chairs, based on project needs. This reinforcement adds tensile strength to help resist cracking and shifting.

A ready-mix concrete blend is then poured on-site, typically in the 3,000–3,500 psi range, which is ideal for residential use while allowing for ease of finishing. Our crew levels and floats the concrete, followed by edging and finishing the surface based on your selected texture—broom finish, smooth trowel, or decorative stamped finish.

Control joints are cut within 24 hours to prevent future cracking due to expansion and contraction.

After the surface has cured enough for final touch-ups, we apply curing compound (if requested) and rope off the area to protect it during the curing process. Light foot traffic is typically allowed after 24–48 hours, while vehicles should avoid driving on the slab for at least 7 days.

The result is a clean, durable concrete surface, ready to support daily use, outdoor furniture, BBQ grills, and more—adding both function and elegance to your outdoor space.

Hazard Mitigation Procedure

This quote is limited to the approximately 2,800-square-foot artificial turf installation and approximately 430-square-foot stabilized California Gold DG installation described in the Quote Summary. The following items are not included unless specifically added through a written change order:

Installation of new drains, catch basins, French drains, dry wells, sump systems, channel drains, underground drainpipe, or other drainage infrastructure.
Correction of flooding, groundwater, runoff originating outside the project area, inadequate downstream drainage capacity, or pre-existing drainage defects not visible during the site survey.
Major excavation, engineered grading, soil stabilization, compaction testing, geotechnical services, or remediation of unstable, expansive, contaminated, rocky, or otherwise unsuitable soil.
Removal of extensive root systems, buried stumps, large buried logs, concrete, construction debris, large rocks, or other concealed subsurface obstructions requiring substantial additional labor or equipment.
Tree removal, stump grinding, arborist services, root treatment, or any guarantee against future root growth or settlement caused by decomposing organic material.
Future tree planting, cutting or modifying the completed turf for planting wells, installation of future bender board, irrigation modifications for future trees, or restoration of turf disturbed by later landscaping work.
Installation of new irrigation, drip irrigation, valves, controllers, or replacement of irrigation lines. The included irrigation scope is limited to locating and capping sprinkler heads encountered within the project areas under normal conditions.
Repair or relocation of concealed irrigation, electrical, gas, plumbing, drainage, low-voltage wiring, utility lines, or other underground systems not visible during the estimate.
Repair, replacement, removal, cleaning, sealing, painting, or modification of existing concrete pathways, curbing, walls, fences, gates, structures, landscaping, or surrounding improvements.
Plants, trees, shrubs, planting soil, mulch, boulders, landscape lighting, furniture, irrigation for new planting areas, or other decorative landscape enhancements.

Damage caused by reflective window glare, concentrated sunlight, grills, fire pits, hot coals, cigarettes, fireworks, chemicals, sharp objects, vehicles, heavy furniture, flooding, soil movement, roots, rodents, wildlife, or work performed by others.
Permits, HOA approvals, architectural approvals, engineering, surveys, inspections, or governmental fees unless specifically required and added in writing.
Work outside the approved project limits, additional square footage, layout changes, or additional labor and material required because of concealed or unforeseen conditions. Such work requires customer authorization through a written change order.

Equipment access is expected through the west side of the house. Bill and Toni must keep this route and the work areas clear during installation.
Approximately 20 sprinkler heads were visible during the site survey. All heads encountered within the project footprint will be capped below grade under normal conditions; the final count may be higher.
No significant drainage concern was observed. No new underground drainage system is included.

Historical Trees and Concealed Conditions

Historical aerial imagery indicates that trees may previously have existed within the approximately 1,212-square-foot turf area.
No visible trees, stumps, or root systems were present during the survey. Minor roots encountered during ordinary excavation are included.
Extensive roots, buried stumps, large organic remnants, concrete, construction debris, or other significant concealed obstructions are not included and may require a written change order after customer review and approval.

Dogs and CamoFill

Two small-breed dogs are expected to use the new lawn, including one senior dog approximately 14 years old.
CamoFill performance infill is included to add ballast, support the blades, assist fiber recovery, and provide antimicrobial protection intended to help manage odor-causing bacteria, mold, and mildew.
Solid pet waste must be removed promptly. Frequently used urination areas should be rinsed regularly, especially during warm and dry weather. A pet-safe enzymatic cleaner may be used according to its manufacturer’s directions when needed.
No turf or infill system is maintenance-free or guaranteed to eliminate all pet odors.

Future Trees

If trees are added later, the turf should be professionally opened and resecured around an appropriately sized planting well.
Bender board or another perimeter restraint may be required around future tree openings. Future modifications are not included in this quote.
Planning intended tree locations before installation is recommended if dedicated planting islands may be preferred.

DG Package Pricing

The stabilized DG area is economical within this combined project because material delivery, mobilization, equipment, preparation, and the three-day labor allocation are shared with the turf installation.
The $250 deduction for omitting the DG applies only before the combined project begins. It does not represent the standalone value or future installation price of the 430-square-foot DG area.
A later DG installation would require a new estimate and separate charges for material, delivery, weed barrier, mobilization, labor, and markup.
The quoted DG material is stabilized California Gold. Other colors or aggregates require updated pricing.

Pricing, Schedule, and Warranty

Complete project standard finance or credit-card price: $17,750.
Complete project discounted cash price: $16,750. Financing is available for qualified customers.
Without the DG area: $17,500 standard or $16,500 cash.
Estimated installation duration is approximately three working days, subject to access, weather, soil, root, material, and concealed site conditions.
Maya 80 carries the applicable 16-year manufacturer warranty. Kreative Gardens provides a two-year workmanship warranty, subject to the written warranty terms, exclusions, proper use, and required maintenance.
